However, in the Developer Updates section of the game¡¯s website, Mike O¡® Brien wrote a

letter to the fans and stated that the game is not delayed as such, since the game has never

had a release date, and that it is still under development as the company undergoes

restructuring. Unfortunately we still don¡¯t have an official release for the game, although

Mike put it somewhere in the late 2010 or early 2011 timeframe. He also mentioned that the

game had sufficient financial backing and that they hoped to make is ¡°the best role-playing

game ever created.¡°

¡°You¡¯ve all seen announcements about restructuring at NCsoft West, and it¡¯s natural to

wonder whether that restructuring impacts Arena Net¡¯s ¡®Guild Wars 2¡ä development,¡± said

Mike. ¡°In fact, the reason NCsoft West is restructuring itself is so that the company can

put all of its focus into its top-tier games like WOW Argent

While ¡®Guild Wars 2¡ä will have good financial backing (according to Mike), NCSOFT is

feeling the crunch more than most. In comparison to their profits from last year, they are

experiencing a painful 40% decrease. It is now more than ever that they need to begin

releasing games onto the market to start generating some serious and consistent income to

fund other projects and keep the business ticking over.

But for now, it looks like ¡°Guild Wars¡± fans will have to continue playing the first

version. Let¡¯s just hope it¡¯s worth the wait!
