From the massive changes you can see in hockey pads and masks, to baseball gloves, basketball shoes, golf clubs and balls, it's a common trend that athletes demand more and more from their equipment and E-sports should be no different. Designing new equipment that allows you to use commands faster and easier is something that could help progress E-sports further. The upcoming Regional Tournament in Cologne Germany... will hold both the North American and European Tournaments for World of Warcraft as well as Warcraft 3, making it one of the largest tournaments of the year, and definitely one of the most interesting about gold. With today's tournament system, it can be hard for new players to break into the scene, as unless you want to fund your own way to a tournament, or are lucky enough to have one locally, you're really only left with one option-Blizzard's Online Tournament. This tournament is everyone's chance to show the pro's what's up and possibly get a sponsor in the process, since the tournament is open to anyone who can afford the ~$20 entry fee. There are no excuses for the online all-stars to not qualify, as not only is it an all-access tournament, but everyone is also on a level playing field when it comes to gear. What's more is that if you're able to qualify for the tournament it's all expenses paid: flight, hotel, ground transportation, and they even take you out for dinner! If you're able to make it this far, and prove yourself at the LAN tournament, then you're likely going to be able to find an interested sponsor, or at least someone who will take a chance on sending you to an ESL or MLG event. |
