LOCAL servicemen are being remembered in an art exhibition in Liverpool.
The Art Fund has brought Queen and Country, created by official war artist Steve McQueen, to St Georges Hall.
The work, which is commissioned by the Imperial War Museum, wow powerlevel consists of a series of facsimile postage sheets each dedicated to a member of the armed forces who have died in Iraq.

Among families supporting the campaign is that of Corporal Ben Nowak, a Royal Marine from Speke, who died in a bomb attack near Basra, aged 27.
His uncle, Michael McEvatt said: ¡° All we want is for people to remember Ben and other service men and women. The picture we have chosen for the stamp is of Ben after his coh influence training in 2005. He passed it with flying colours and it was one of his proudest moments.¡±
Others included in the display are Sgt Graham Hesketh, 35, from Runcorn, a member of the Duke of Lancaster¡¯s Regiment, who died in December 2006; Kingsman Adam James ¡°Smudge¡± Smith, from Old Swan, who died in April 2007; Kingsman Alan Joseph Jones, 30, from Dovecot, who died in April 2007; and Kingsman Alexander William Green, 21, from Warrington, who died in January 2007.
The stamps will be on show until October 31. |
